Does It Fit?
What Fits in a 14×28 Unit — and What Doesn't
The Extra-Large is built for the boats that don’t fit anywhere else locally. The 28-foot length is the deciding factor — it’s 8 feet longer than the Large unit and accommodates the full rig on boats and trailers that exceed 22 feet.
What Fits
- Boats 22 to 25 feet on standard or tandem-axle trailers — the 28-foot length handles the full rig including trailer tongue with room to spare
- Large pontoons 22 feet and up the 14-foot width covers most standard pontoon decks at this size, and the 28-foot length fits extended hulls and trailers
- Center consoles 22 to 25 feet including hardtop and T-top configurations within the 8'6" clearance
- Tandem-axle trailers with extended tongues the extra length makes this the only unit that reliably fits longer trailer-and-boat com-binations
- Bass boats over 22 feet where the Large unit's 20-foot length comes up short, the Extra-Large picks up
- Boats with T-tops and wakeboard towers same 8'6" clearance as the Large unit
What Doesn't Fit
- Boats over 25 feet a 25-foot boat on a tandem-axle trailer typically measures 29 to 31 feet tip-to-stern. If your total rig length exceeds 28 feet, a storage unit is not the right solution — contact us about open-terrain parking instead
- Pontoons wider than 14 feet wide-deck or double-deck pontoons with exterior accessories may exceed the unit opening. Measure the widest point including any overhanging railings or canopy frames
- Extra-tall rigs over 8'6" if your boat has a hardtop, radar arch, or any rigging above 8'6" when trailered, meas-ure carefully before reserving
Not sure if your rig fits? Measure tip-to-stern from hitch pin to bow for length, and ground to highest point for clearance. If both are within 28 feet and 8’6″, the Extra-Large works. If your rig is longer than 28 feet, call us at (713) 320-5251 — open-terrain parking may be the right fit.
Large vs. Extra-Large
One Difference — Eight More Feet of Length
The Large and Extra-Large units share the same width (14 feet) and the same clearance (8’6″). The only difference is length: 20 feet on the Large, 28 feet on the Extra-Large.
That gap matters more than it sounds. A 22-foot boat on a standard trailer measures approximately 25 to 26 feet from hitch pin to bow. That rig doesn’t fit in 20 feet — it fits in 28. If you’ve been considering the Large unit and your boat is over 20 feet, measure your total rig before reserving. The Extra-Large is likely the right unit, and at $175/month it’s still well below what indoor or climate-controlled facilities charge for a comparable footprint.

Questions About the Extra-Large Unit
Before You Reserve
My boat is 24 feet. Will it fit?
Yes, in most cases. A 24-foot boat on a tandem-axle trailer typically measures 27 to 28 feet from hitch pin to bow, depending on the trailer tongue length. That puts you right at the limit of the Extra-Large unit. Measure your total rig before reserving — if you’re within 28 feet, you’re good. If you’re over, contact us about open-terrain parking.
What is the longest boat that fits in the Extra-Large unit?
Roughly 24 to 25 feet, depending on your trailer configuration. Standard trailers add 3 to 4 feet of tongue length ahead of the bow, so the unit’s 28-foot length typically accommo-dates boats up to 24 or 25 feet on most trailers. Extended or custom trailers may reduce that by a foot or two. When in doubt, measure the full rig.
I have a large pontoon. Will the width work?
Most pontoons up to 24 feet have a deck width between 8 and 8.5 feet, which fits com-fortably within the 14-foot opening. Wider deck models — typically 26-foot pontoons and above — may approach or exceed 14 feet when you include furniture rails, canopy frames, or other exterior accessories. Measure the widest point of your full rig before reserving.
My rig is longer than 28 feet. What are my options?
If your total rig exceeds 28 feet, a fixed storage unit won’t work. Our open-terrain parking is the right option — we configure the space to your rig’s exact dimensions and quote a custom monthly rate. Contact us at (713) 320-5251 or fill out the quote form on our contact page.
Is the Extra-Large worth $50 more than the Medium?
If your boat is over 22 feet or has a T-top or tower, the Medium unit is not a viable op-tion — the width, clearance, and length all fall short. The Extra-Large gives you the right dimensions for larger rigs at $175/month, which is still significantly below what most cli-mate-controlled facilities in the Austin area charge for a comparable footprint.
Is there a minimum rental period?
No. All units are month-to-month with no minimum commitment. Cancel with notice as outlined in your rental agreement.
